Over the past years we validated innovative multisector approaches to population health that help transform health systems from being reactive care systems to becoming proactive, predictive and preventive health systems that can keep people healthy.

You will partner across the NF portfolio, in a matrix organization with Novartis and NF teams and external partners to propose and execute innovative approaches and strategies to address global health challenges. You be able to act in a dynamic environment under significant level of uncertainty and novelty.
This role offers the opportunity to shape and pioneer innovative models of population health, enabled by data, digital technology and AI to shape the transformation of health and care systems around the world, bringing together strategic thinking with a business mindset to translate unmet needs in actionable insights for major impact. You will lead and be accountable for the selection and roll out of innovative health interventions that can realise the NF population health roadmaps around the world.

About the Role

Key Responsibilities:

  • Leverages a deep understanding of healthcare industry, global health, health systems and data science, to identify trends that can further drive and shape the data and tech driven health innovations the Novartis Foundation decides to pioneer. Identifies opportunities to further shape NF’s thought leadership in health and care innovation, enabled by data, digital technology and AI.
  • Understands complex global health problems and formulates innovative strategies for engaging with experts and thought leaders, and/or build productive alliances to address burning questions to progress understanding of the leading drivers of urban CV population health and health inequities.
  • Serves as program director on critical initiatives in relation to data driven population health, from initial assessment to development and deployment/continuous improvement. This involves planning and overseeing data analytics from the foundation’s population health initiatives, integrating them in decision making with local authorities and health system managers and refining the interventions and tools we develop and/or work with, in collaboration with multidisciplinary teams.
  • Develops the Novartis Foundation innovations and strategy, in collaboration with the team and relevant stakeholders, and supports the NF team to operationalize it.
  • Demonstrates outstanding stakeholder engagement, relationship building and nurturing skills.
  • Leads exemplary communication for different types of audiences and drives content development of key events convened or sponsored by the NF.

What you’ll bring to the role:

Essential Criteria             

  • Masters or equivalent degree in public health, lifesciences or business; MBA or PhD is a plus.                                
  • Extensive relevant work experience, diverse expertise from other areas within public health or pharmaceutical industry (preferably in strategy building)
  • Excellent communication, negotiation and change management skills. Ability to present to Novartis senior management, corporate functions and to local executive team members, as well as to external audiences and government officials.
  • Proven track record in leading large matrix teams in national and international environments and in driving agile innovation cycles
  • Show high awareness of external trends and ability to proactively address needs based on external demands.
  • Excellence in designing and continuously improving business processes to meet quality and compliance standards and to simplify the way we work
  • English – fluent oral and written.
