As a Scientific Product Manager, you will develop and continually update visions for multiple globally-deployed, high-impact scientific software products necessary for NIBR drug discovery.
About the Role
Major Accountabilities:
Working in collaboration with other Product Managers within your product line and across all product lines, you will contribute to an integrated product suite. You will also lead a matrixed, cross-functional product team consisting of software, data and infrastructure engineers, business analysts, designers, and user supporters and trainers that is responsible for delivering on your product roadmap.
You will exemplify excellence in product management, combining your knowledge of science and drug discovery to create or license software that advances and supports NIBR science. You will develop and manage a product roadmap and define how we measure product success and value delivery for your product.
You will deliver consistent, stable product operations, and meet all security, stability, usability, performance and sustainability requirements. You will energetically promote your product, give demos, and show the impact of your product on NIBR science.
- Synthesize user input into a vision and roadmap for your product
- Accountable for delivery by the cross functional product team
- Assess product development sprints, outcomes, and enhancement opportunities.
- Define, monitor, and achieve product success and value metrics
- Prioritizes and manage product feature backlog
- Contribute to overall business architecture
- Ensure adherence to Novartis global Information Security and Quality standards and policies for all products/services.
Minimum Requirements:
Must have product management experience as well as domain knowledge in a core drug discovery scientific discipline such as biology, chemistry, or computational sciences. Scientific Product Managers are highly collaborative, use their interpersonal skills to understand their users in order to populate and prioritize among possible product features.
The ideal candidate demonstrates the following skills and capabilities:
- · At least 3 years of experience in product management in a complex matrix environment
- · 5+ years of experience in drug discovery or a core supporting scientific field.
- · Bachelor’s degree in biology, chemistry, or a related scientific field. PhD preferred.
- · Proven experience as a team player
- · Ability to develop and promote a shared vision
- · Ability to effect change, manage conflict, and create consensus through indirect influence
- · Experience with Agile software development
- · Quantitative skills and the ability to use data and metrics to inform decisions
- · Proven ability to execute consistently, rapidly, and effectively
- · Outstanding communication skills
- · Experience in a drug discovery or scientific research setting
Novartis Compensation and Benefit Summary: The pay range for this position at commencement of employment is expected to be between $152,600 and $283,400 per year; however, while salary ranges are effective from 1/1/25 through 12/31/25, fluctuations in the job market may necessitate adjustments to pay ranges during this period. Further, final pay determinations will depend on various factors, including, but not limited to geographical location, experience level, knowledge, skills and abilities. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including a sign-on bonus, restricted stock units, and discretionary awards in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits (including 401(k) eligibility and various paid time off benefits, such as vacation, sick time, and parental leave), dependent on the position offered. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment. If hired, employee will be in an “at-will position” and the Company reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, Company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.
